French duo Papooz have returned with an enchanting yet seductive follow-up single titled ‘The Garden,’ mixed by Ash Workman (Metronomy, Christine and the Queens).

Parisians Ulysse Cottin and Armand Penicaut released their second album ‘Night Sketches’ (produced by Adrien Durand of Bon Voyage Organisation) in March 2019, and it drew massive applauses. Earlier this year the pair shared their first single since the album release, ‘Figs and Gorgonzola,’ accompanied by an American tour just shy of the COVID outbreak.

Now, the pair are back to unfold their version of the story of Adam & Eve. The music video, shot in South-West France during lockdown, was recorded just three days after the track was finished.

Starring Klara Kristin, and directed by illustrator and film-maker Victoria Lafaurie, the video encapsulates a melodic take on the story of the forbidden fruit. Showcasing the power of beauty within love and the foolishness that can occur, Lafaurie has wonderfully depicted their vision of a classic myth.

We shot the video in the garden of the studios where we recorded the track – it was just after confinement in France began, so everything was closed.

We asked the local farmer to make a few ‘pommes d’amour’ (apples dipped in red caramel) and we bought a few rolls of fishing lines and drapes for the band. Victoria shot it on an old DV camera she had – we used backlights, tricks and zooms"
