“Whistling is like a human theremin,” says Molly Lewis, an Australian world renowned whistler. Lewis’s performances are actively changing preconceived notions of whistling around the globe and it’s easy to understand why.

“Why does one whistle? To communicate, to create, to gesture. For sadness and for joy. It is an instrument unlike any other... a beautiful form of breathing.”

After completing her film studies, Lewis took to Los Angeles to become close to film industry. Over the past few years, Lewis started Café Molly, events held at LA Spots like Zebulon, Non Plus Ultra and The Natural History Museum, also titled as LA’s premier whistle lounges. These events were nights filled of elegance and powerful vocal workings, which naturally attracted the likes of like John C. Reilly, Karen O, and Mac Demarco

Today - Molly Lewis shares her first single and video “Oceanic Feeling,” out via Jagjaguwar. The video follows a tale of a beautiful maiden wandering in a darkly dime garden. Her trance like whistle brings her statues to life, attracts the attention of Hawk, and brings the prince of saxophone out of the mist. It’s a beautiful story and unique take on using music to communicate.

Directed by Drew Bienemann and Molly Lewis, starring John C Reilly, Kiera McNally, Ariana Papademetropoulos, and Kanoni the Hawk.
