Dime Lifters Share Debut Single “Wedding"
Birthed during the spring of the lockdown comes a new musical act from the underground music community of Toronto; Dime Lifters, a collaboration between Andrew Matthews and Kyle Knapp.
Matthews is best known as a founding member of Whimm (musician and filmmaker), while Knapp is best recognized as the leading force behind Deliluh, while also contributing to Cindy Lee, WOW, Ice Cream, and Korea Town Acid. During the peak months of the lockdown, both musicians ventured off to the Mediterranean Basin where they remotely began working on their new music adventure.
Dime Lifters is an escape from their dark tonal post-punk style. Basking in nostalgic memories from Knapp’s old Toronto apartment, and infused with characteristic influenced by the likes of Ennio Morricone, John Huston, and Alain Delon, emerges a haunting film score diverging from our frightening reality.
For the entire month of October, all Bandcamp artist profits from 'Wedding' and b-side 'Clairette' will be split between the CALEM Institute (shelter in Marseille supporting LGBT asylum seekers and refugees) and Anduhyaun Inc. (charitable agency offering safe spaces and resources for Indigenous women and children in Toronto).
