La Sécurité’s have announced the news of their debut full-length, Stay Safe! out June 16th via Mothland. Today, the band share their new single “Serpent,” a new dance floor scorcher sure to get you on your feet. From its idiosyncratic introductory drumroll to its anthemic gang vocals finale, the ever-building four-to-the-floor mutant disco proposition recoils, wiggles and sizzles to the tune of Bootsy Collins-esque basslines, razor sharp guitar flurries, flanged-out synthesizer melodies and clever percussive follies. This beautiful sass parade from the Montréal/Tiohtià:ke collective should no doubt please fans of Le Tigre, Blondie or ESG.

“This song calls out gossip and drama that occur in friend groups. The person it is directed towards loves dancing. It's a pretty dancey song. We hope they dance to it.”

Immediately poignant, delivered with tone-a-plenty, while boasting a whole lot of punk moxie, Stay Safe! harnesses the inherent synergy shared by the members of La Sécurité. The resulting 38 minutes of subversive pop is quite pleasing, even to unsuspecting eardrums, co-producers Félix Bélisle (also a member of the band) and Samuel Gemme (Corridor, Population II, etc.) striking a balance between brut sounds and wispy tweaks.

“It’s an album with a lot of drive, which makes you want to move! Some of it is in French, some of it is in English, but it’s not just fun and games… it also bites. It’s catchy earworms delivered with a punk attitude. There’s somewhat of a Twin Peak-esque, honey-dripping break midway, adding a bit of breathing room before we indulge in more contagious grooves, upping the bpm until the very end.”
