Dreamy electro-pop six-piece Jaunt has started off the New Year by releasing the first single off their debut album titled “Nostalgia For The Present Moment.”

Jaunt hail from Toronto, Canada, and started on a whim. Pat O’Brien [guitarist] and Tom Helliwell [singer/songerwriter] bonded at a Halloween party over their shared love of musical creations. By the time of their first show, they had added Daniel Reardon [keyboardist], and shortly after included Duncan Hood [drummer] and Nick Nausbaum [bassist]. Singer/video artist, Caitlin Woelfe-O’Brien, was a late addition but added backing vocals Jaunt’s second EP, and quickly became a full-time member.

Over the last three years, the band has been working in collaboration with BADBADNOTGOOD’s drummer Alex Sowinski, to produce their debut full-length album “All In One;” which will be self-released on April 16, 2020.

“The title of the song, ‘Nostalgia For The Present Moment’, came well before any of the actual lyrics were written,” says singer/guitarist Tom Helliwell. “However, the idea of being aware and in the moment helped to guide the overall theme of the song. It is about being open to change and how such an openness can foster new and better habits. The lyrics are a kind of post-mortem of past negative thought and behaviour patterns. It is about looking back with a sense of gratitude and calm that one no longer thinks or feels that way. It is a celebration of how we learn and change and forgive ourselves and others.”

We’re overjoyed to be catching Jaunt’s performance at this year's Taverne Tour in Montreal on January 30!
