Quebec’s FME (Festival de musique émergente) was founded in 2003 and has become an annual music festival held in the beautiful town of Rouyn-Noranda. Their mission is simply to encourage the spread of original music and to contribute to the broader exposure of Canadian bands both nationally and internationally.

This year our team has been graciously invited to attend the 2021 addition of FME. We could not be more thrilled to be spending the weekend away at our first music festival after the unenjoyable year away from live sounds.

We’ve compiled a list of acts and shows we plan to attend & hope to see you there!

Kwenders combines Lingala, French, English, Tshiluba, and Kikongo - utilizing each of the languages aesthetic to turn his music into larger than life beauties of wonder. His melding of worlds has lead to warm boogie jives that’ll have you off your seat in no time.

Ducks Ltd (formally known as Ducks Unlimited) features Tom McGreevy (lead vocal, guitar, bass, keyboards) and Evan Lewis (guitar, bass, drum programming). Their music echos 80s influences while maintaining their own identities and progressing into their own sound. The jangle-pop duo will release their debut album “Modern Fiction” later this year.

Visibly Choked, a fairly new band to sprout out of Montreal, were making massive waves amongst the local music community pre-covid. Their take on experimental punk is a manic frenzy. Their music kicks and punches, leaving you with those after show mosh pit bruises we all love and miss. The five piece are just at the start of the careers, with lots of great things to come!

Toronto’s Hot Garbage have quickly become one of the city’s most notable psychedelic acts. The band have just announced details of their debut album RIDE, recorded and produced by Holy Fucks’ Graham Walsh. The album takes you on a trip through an array of different meldings of genres while tackling afterlife, depression and freedom. The band’s melodic and captivating music creates a colourful texture of outer worldly sounds that its listeners are sure to get lost in.

Since his arrival to Montreal, Paul Jacobs has become one of the city’s most prolific and unconventional artists. Over the past few years Jacobs has produced and released a great number of albums and EPs that one may say serve as a small sample to his high charged and rambunctious live shows. His latest release “Pink Dogs on the Green Grass” is the first of albums to change the pace of tone while still upholding that classic Paul Jacobs sound.
